Wants vs Needs – The Millennium Generation

Posted by Faizan on Jan 22, 2010 in Daily Ramblings

Do you purchase clothes and such when you want them or need them? This is the question that I posed to the Twitterverse this week. The general consensus seems to be that most of us purchase clothes when we want and often over what we need. So here we are, putting our desires above our needs. When did we become so superficial? Or perhaps this is just how it is now. With new designer clothing as well as gadgets et al popping out every so often, I think that we have learnt to accept the fact that what we want is just as important as what we need. Perhaps sometimes even more important…

I decided to do some more research. At our local café, I asked a bunch of girls if they’d skip food to save up to buy designer shoes and such and a lot of them confessed that they already do. I thought it could be just the girls so I also asked a few guys too at the bar later that evening; some of whom confessed to buying games, clothes, ipods and other gadgets over necessities.

I wondered, do we ever think about those in the less privileged countries before buying expensive clothes? But then of course my trip ended with a few purchases of my own so who am I to judge anyone for their shopaholic instints?

What do you think?

Over and out.

sweet unconditional love

Posted by Faizan on Mar 23, 2009 in Daily Ramblings

I wrote a little something today… click here or read below!

we link our hands
and close our eyes;
we lay on the bed
for hours at night

cuddling and snuggling and spooning
away from the world’s moaning and groaning

the moments we spend on the couch
you on top, with our tongues attached;
just like the ones in the car
and the photobooths in the park

those ticks on the beach
with our bodies attached;
in the cold winter nights
with the full moon alight

i recall the time we first met
that first touch, that first kiss;
right there and then
i fell in love

sweet unconditional love

Fashion

Posted by Faizan on Dec 26, 2008 in Daily Ramblings

Fashion is the best Bollywood film I’ve ever seen. I didn’t think that Priyanka Chopra would have it in her to deliver such a strong performance, all on her own shoulders. I have finally accepted her as THE top female star of Bollywood today. Mugdha Godse seriously impressed me. I didn’t think a newcomer could deliver so well. Kangana Ranaut was a little disappointing as it was a repeat performance for her but she does good when she delivers lines in Hindi. Overall, a film worth watching!

4.5 / 5 for sure!
