Couples

Posted by Faizan on Sep 29, 2008 in Daily Ramblings

Has it always been married vs single or am I just unfortunate to bump into a particularly nasty case of marriage syndrome? A few months ago, my ‘friend’ and I did a photoshoot for a college project that was going to be pitched to some calendar companies after college finished but before I could even think about my further plans, there came the angry jealous possessive husband wanting to sue me for using his wife’s images without his consent.

It got me thinking… After marriage, do all individuals become ‘we’? If so, are they not allowed to have an opinion or consent outside of their ‘we agreement’? What happens to the individual consent when I becomes we?

Why do people get married anyway?

I asked my married friend/collegue what she would do if her husband disapproved of another friend, particularly a guy. “We talk about it and he should trust me to know and be wise”. Now there’s a couple we all wish to know.

Your own company

How often is it that you feel so comfortable with yourself that you think to yourself that you don’t need company? This morning, I was sitting at my favourite cafe eating a sandwich alone but instead of the usual “looking at my phone” moment every few seconds as if waiting for someone, I just felt like I didn’t need any dining-alone armour. People looked at me sitting at my table alone (with about 10 bags) but I was confident and really enjoyed my own company.

I don’t think that I’ve ever felt like this before. It’s actually very very cool to just sit and enjoy the surroundings and the food/drink without engaging in a conversation. How often is it that we do this or feel comfortable doing it? If I was an early bird, I’d have my breakfast in a cafe every morning… with or without company. :)
